GAMES WILL BEGIN ON FRIDAY EACH WEEKEND.
Basketball teams MUST be prepared to play all 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Games may start as early as 8:00 a.m. on Friday in Columbia, Missouri.  Teams could play as many as 7 or 8 games over the weekend. In general, teams will play 3 games in pool-play and then all basketball teams will be seeded into a single-elimination bracket.
 
Location: Basketball competition will take place in Columbia, Missouri at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, the MU Student Recreation Complex and various other sites in the area.
 
Entry Fee: $225 per team - 8th grade and younger
$250 per team - 9th grade and older

Basketball teams allowed into competition after the deadline will be subject to a $50 late entry fee.
 
Deadline:

July 1 – 4th Grade Boys and Girls, 5th Grade Boys and Girls, 6th Grade Boys and Girls, 7th Grade Girls, 8th Grade Girls

July 7 – 7th Grade Boys, 8th Grade Boys, 10th Grade Boys and Girls, 12th Grade Boys and Girls

Late entries may be allowed, depending upon space availability; however, late entries will not be guaranteed a place in the basketball tournament and will be charged a $50 late fee. 

 
Check In: All teams must check-in at the Hearnes Center at least 1 hour prior to their first game.

Roster / Roster Additions
We must have a completed roster turned into our office along with your registration. Players may be added to your roster at no charge prior to the following deadlines. Your roster must be either be turned into our office or entered into the online team managment (online registrations only) by July 7 (June 1 for 19 and Over and Older).

Please note your team entry and payment must be received by your sport’s specific entry deadline.

Changes may still be made to your roster after these dates, but MUST be done during check-in at the Hearnes Center. Roster additions at this time will be charged $5 per person added to the roster and there will be no limit to the roster addition charges. Additions received after these dates will not be processed.

 
Format Rules:
  • This year, age divisions will be determined by a players grade during the 2009-2010 school year.  A player may have been held back one year in school and still be eligible for their current grade.
  • Players may be asked to provide proof of age if asked by a Show-Me State Games official.
  • Rosters shall be limited to 12 players.
  • Team should have light and dark jerseys. Numbers should be on both sides of jersey. According to MSHSAA standards, school uniforms may not be worn.
  • A player may play on only one team per weekend at finals except for the 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ divisions.
  • For 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ divisions, a player's age is determined by his/her age on December 31 of the current year.
  • High School and Junior High students eligibility are governed by the MSHSAA rules and regulations.
  • Playing times for each age group are as follows:
    10 and Under, 8 minute quarters, 2 minute overtime
    11 and Under, 8 minute quarters, 2 minute overtime
    12 and Under, 8 minute quarters, 2 minute overtime
    13 and Under, 9 minute quarters, 2 minute overtime
    14 and Under, 9 minute quarters, 2 minute overtime
    16 and Under, 10 minute quarters, 3 minute overtime
    18 and Under, 10 minute quarters, 3 minute overtime
    19+ and older, 20 minute halves, 5 minute overtime
  • There is no pressing in the Recreational divisions except for the last 2 minutes of the game.
  • All divisions 12th grade and younger will use a running clock with the following exceptions: The clock will stop for all free throws, time outs, injuries and any other time deemed necessary by the officials. In addition, the clock will stop for all normal violations the last 2 minutes of each half.
  • All 19 and over divisions will use a running clock with the following exceptions: The clock will stop for all normal violations the last 5 minutes of each half.
  • Half time will be 3 minutes.
  • Basketball teams will be allowed 2 timeouts per game. Timeouts will not carry over to overtime. Teams will be allowed one timeout in overtime.
  • Forfeit time will be 10 minutes from scheduled game time.
  • Girls and women's team will use the smaller regulation balls. Boys 5th grade and younger will also use the smaller 28.5 ball.  6th grade and older boys will use the official men's basketball.
  • All age groups will use the 3 pt. Line
  • Any player or coach receiving two technical fouls (unsportsmanlike behavior) in one game will forfeit that game. Should the forfeit occur during a medal round, the forfeiting team will not be awarded medals.
  • Any coach or player receiving two technical fouls in one game will not be allowed to participate in the following game.
  • Wheelchair basketball teams will play by standard wheelchair basketball rules.
  • Teams must furnish their own warm-up and game ball.
  • Basketball teams must also furnish one scorekeeper for each game. Scorekeeper provided by the team must sit next to the scorekeeper provided by the opposing team.
  • The running score on score sheets will be the official score. Volunteer scorekeepers are not the official score.
 
Other Info: REMINDER: NCAA rules prohibit prospect-aged individuals (9th-12th grade) from making in-person, on-campus contact with Division I men's basketball coaching staffs during the month of July. Therefore, please refrain from attempting a visit to the MU men's basketball offices while participating in the Show-Me STATE GAMES.
