| Other Info: | Participate in the CIGS event on April 17... run or walk, learn about your health, raise money to benefit research of smoking-related diseases and Celebrate Your Life! The Show-Me STATE GAMES is proud to be the official presenting sponsor of the fifth Annual CIGS Run/Walk. It consists of a 4-mile race or a 1.3-mile walk and also includes a Health Fair where participants can learn about smoking cessation and living a healthy lifestyle. Prizes will be awarded based on age and smoking category. Run/walk participants will recieve a free CIGS t-shirt, the top finisher in each division will receive a very unique trophy and all finishers will recieve a Show-Me STATE GAMES medal. MU Healthcare employee and ex-Smoker Jim Linville founded the CIGS Run/Walk to benefit research of smoking-related diseases. As an ex-smoker and sufferer of COPD himself, Jim is a supporter of smoking cessation and desires to educate all smokers about cessation options. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is a disease in which the sufferer is subjected to chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema. The damage caused by this disease is often permanent and generally worsens over time. All this year's net proceeds from CIGS will be donated to further research on this disease and other smoking-related diseases. |
