Athlete Parade
Athletes have the opportunity to represent their sport as they parade into Opening Ceremony.
Special Guests
MU athletes will attend the Opening Ceremony and will answer questions from KOMU. A special guest will help with our Oath of Athletes, an annual tradition at the Opening Ceremony to promote sportsmanship. The MU athletes will be signing autographs when the opening ceremony concludes.
Lighting of the Cauldron
The 2023 Summer Games will officially kick off as the torch enters the stadium and the cauldron is lit.
How to participate
The Opening Ceremony will feature the Parade of Athletes, where each athlete participating in the 2023 Show-Me STATE GAMES will have the opportunity to represent their sport. Athletes should report to the Press Entrance of Mizzou Arena by 6:30 p.m. Look for the volunteers in red t-shirts, they will help you find the correct place to line up.
Olympic Traditions
The annual torch lighting of the cauldron is a tradition of the Show-Me State Games Opening Ceremony. In previous years the Show-Me State Games has had numerous different Olympians and prominent figures light the cauldron
