Stephens College Horse Show

WHAT:

The Show-Me State Games Horse Show is excited to welcome exhibitors for our inaugural western event! This western-style show is designed to create a positive, inclusive environment for riders of all experience levels and horse backgrounds.

We will be offering three divisions to support developing riders:

  • Walk-Whoa Division
Designed for beginner riders, this division focuses on confidence, control, and basic horsemanship at the walk. Riders will be asked to demonstrate safe handling, steering, and the ability to stop (“whoa”) effectively. An excellent introduction to the show environment.
  • Walk-Trot Division
Ideal for developing riders who are comfortable at the walk and trot. This division emphasizes rhythm, control, and consistency while continuing to build confidence in the show pen. Riders should demonstrate the ability to maintain both gaits and execute smooth transitions.
  • Walk-Trot-Canter Division
For more advanced riders who are confidently working at all three gaits. This division highlights balance, control, and overall horsemanship, with an emphasis on smooth transitions, correct positioning, and effective communication with the horse.

All breeds and abilities are welcome. Whether you’re stepping into the show pen for the first time or looking to gain more mileage in a relaxed setting, this is a great opportunity to compete while building confidence, developing skills, and enjoying a great day with your horse.

We look forward to seeing you there!
